I personally can’t wait, as Creepy is having his solo exhibition at Turner Galleries, after spending a whole  year on 100 new artworks, the exhibit starts on the 13 August and runs until the 11 September. “Works are based on the culture of a new life, exploring ceremony, tradition and an unknown spiritual co-existence. Creepy mixes differences in global cultures into an environment where new ceremonies and traditions are developed and shown as a unique undiscovered world. Ben Barretto has been an active artist for a long time. I originally met Ben through a dubious mutual skateboarding relation but has since been on the radar for more project based art works, which have been both impressive visually and conceptually.

Often the ‘Rube Goldberg’ quality of Ben’s works coupled with the scale of the installation work is the most striking aspect, but with a dash of medium transcendence in the melting pot this proves an interesting recipe.

Ben has a show of new works coming up which includes more sound elements than previous projects I’ve seen. The show will include “…several musical instruments all directed by the humble pedestal fan, his chosen materials are forced to extend beyond their apparent functionality…” and “…ideas of material and function explored in a series of recent paintings…”

The show opens on Thursday June 10th, 6pm at Freerange, 339 Wellington Street, Perth. It runs Friday through Monday 10am-4pm.

Come on down to Zeppelin Thursday the 3rd of june for a store night that is sure to impress.

Local artist Ryan Boserio will be doing live wire aerosol work and transform the back of the store into a work of art right before your eyes.

Also be serenaded by the sounds of K.Z. The Boogieman who will be playing an all vinyl set of some of the finest tunes ever to be set in wax.

Both Zeppelin and Parata Clothing will be open til late for those keen to check out the latest threads and discounts will be offered all night.

Artists from all over Australia are exhibiting their works at this once in a lifetime event.

“THIS IS HOW WE ROLL” is an Australian skate series which will take the viewer on an epic journey into the unique lives of Australian skateboarders.

On Friday 7th May the grounds are open, as Mixtape Gallery plays host to a an exhibition by Seylapaul Som, Tiffany Moffat, Korrin Stoney and Rose Skinner.

The artists bring a different insight to the table with an eclectic menagerie of mutated creatures and bizarre imagery as they toy with core ideas of human/animal primal behaviors. The hybrid creations will be collaboratively installed in a two and three-dimensional display which transforms the shared space into a Primal Playground.

Primal Playground kicks off at 6pm, 454 William St Northbridge, on Friday the 7th May and runs until Sunday the 16th May 2010.
